Rugby World Cup 2027 General Sale: Prices, What Sells Out First & How Resale Works
Updated 1 October 2026 (prices on the official site at 12:45-12:55 PT / 05:45-05:55 AEST 2 Oct); dynamic pricing applies, prices can change. The category ladder further down is the official February 2026 price schedule, kept for reference.
When does the Rugby World Cup 2027 general sale open and how does it work?
The general public sale opened at 12:00pm AEST (2:00am UTC) on Thursday 1 October 2026. It releases the tickets left over after the February presale (750,000+ tickets sold), the May–June application ballot and the September Visa Priority Sale. On the first day of the general sale (checked 1 October 2026) the official site showed how little is left at the top: four matches (the final, Semi-Final 1, Quarter-Final 1, New Zealand v Australia) had no seats in any category, the two Six Nations derbies, Round of 16 match 2 and Semi-Final 2 had only Categories 1–2 left, and Round of 16 match 7 only Category 2. Dynamic pricing is in force: Ireland v Scotland went up between 29 September and 1 October, so prices can keep moving.
- Where: only on the official RWC 2027 ticketing website, tickets.rugbyworldcup.com. The organiser's terms say tickets bought anywhere other than an authorised channel can be cancelled, so buy the primary allocation there.
- How: first come, first served. You join a virtual queue; once you are let in you have 30 minutes to complete the purchase. Create and activate your ticketing account beforehand so checkout is faster.
- Categories: Category 1 is closest to halfway on the sideline and the higher-numbered categories are the cheapest seats, mostly behind the posts and in the upper tiers. At Perth, Brisbane and Stadium Australia the official site sells Categories 4–7 at a single price; at the smaller venues each category has its own price, down to A$40 for a seat (A$20 standing on the Newcastle hills).
- Ticket limits: on 1 October the limit was 6 tickets per match for Australia v Hong Kong China and England v Wales, and 10 for the other matches we checked (England v Tonga, Italy v Romania, Ireland v Uruguay, England v Zimbabwe, Italy v Georgia, Chile v Hong Kong China). Earlier purchases count toward the limit. Check the More Info panel of each match before you buy.
- Fees: there are no booking or handling fees on official tickets. Child tickets (ages 3 to 15) must be bought with at least one adult ticket and started at A$10 standing and A$20 seated on 1 October; children aged 2 and under go free on an adult's lap. Wheelchair tickets include a free companion ticket.

Children, wheelchair users and ticket limits. Child tickets are for ages 3 to 15 and must be bought together with at least one adult ticket; children aged 2 and under go free on an adult's lap. Wheelchair tickets include a free companion ticket. What the 1 October prices tell you. At the big stadiums, pool-match Categories 1–3 match the official February ladder (A$635 / 495 / 340 for the marquee fixtures, A$425 / 330 / 240 for the big-nation fixtures), with two exceptions: France v Japan is priced above its tier at A$490 / 380 / 290 / 195, and Ireland v Scotland has risen to A$735 / 570 under dynamic pricing. Knockout prices are well above the February ladder: Quarter-Final 4 at A$995 / 795 / 625 / 575 (ladder: A$890 down to A$130) and Semi-Final 2 at A$1,650 / 1,295 for the two categories left (ladder: A$1,200 down to A$150). At Perth, Brisbane and Stadium Australia, Categories 4–7 are one price level; the cheap categories are at the smaller venues, where pool matches start at A$40 for a seat.

Which Rugby World Cup 2027 matches are already sold out?
These are not predictions. This is what the official site showed on 1 October 2026, the first day of the general sale, for the matches in our price table:
- Sold out in every category: New Zealand v Australia (Sydney, 9 October), Quarter-Final 1 (30 October), Semi-Final 1 (5 November) and the final (Stadium Australia, 13 November). No category was on sale at these four matches.
- Categories 3–7 sold out, only Cat 1–2 left: Ireland v Scotland (Perth, 10 October; Cat 1 A$735 with few left, Cat 2 A$570), England v Wales (Sydney, 16 October; Cat 1 A$635, Cat 2 A$495), Round of 16 match 2 (Brisbane, 23 October; Cat 1 A$425, Cat 2 A$330) and Semi-Final 2 (6 November; Cat 1 A$1,650, Cat 2 A$1,295 with few left).
- Only Category 2 left: Round of 16 match 7 (Brisbane, 24 October) had only Category 2 (A$330) and wheelchair tickets on sale; Category 1 sold out after 29 September.
- Cheapest categories sold out: Australia v Chile (Brisbane, 16 October) had Categories 4–7 sold out and a single Category 3 seat (A$240) left; Categories 1–2 were available.
- Few left: France v Japan Category 1 (A$490), Ireland v Scotland Category 1 (A$735), Semi-Final 2 Category 2 (A$1,295) and Quarter-Final 4 Categories 4–7 (A$575).
- Still on sale in every category: the opener Australia v Hong Kong China (Perth, 1 October), England v Tonga (Brisbane, 2 October), France v Japan (Brisbane, 9 October) and Quarter-Final 4 (Sydney, 31 October), plus the sample pool matches at the smaller venues in the table above.
The pattern is the same as every recent World Cup: the cheapest categories go first at the big matches, so what the general sale still offers at those fixtures is mostly Category 1 and 2 at A$330–A$1,650. The pool matches we checked in Newcastle, Townsville, Adelaide, Melbourne and at Sydney Football Stadium had seats in every category on 1 October, from A$40 to A$95 for the cheapest seat (A$20 standing in Newcastle). Browse by team: Wallabies, All Blacks, England, Ireland.
What if the match I want is sold out?
You have three routes, in this order.
1. Wait for the official resale platform. The organisers have said an official resale platform will open closer to the tournament so fans can resell tickets for matches they cannot attend. Under the ticket terms, that is the only channel on which the organiser permits resale, and it will set which matches and price categories can be listed. In Australia, listings there will be capped at face value plus 10%, so seats for the final will appear rarely and go instantly. Details will be published on rugbyworldcup.com when it launches.
2. Watch for returns. Tickets released from cancelled orders and unpaid ballot allocations go back on sale on the official site without warning. Keep your account active and check the match page a few times a week.
3. Verified resale on GoalTickets. We list tickets for all 52 Rugby World Cup 2027 matches, including the final, semi-finals and New Zealand v Australia. Prices reflect demand rather than face value, so expect to pay more than the official price for the biggest matches and close to it for pool games. What you get in return: the price you see is the final price, tickets are delivered to your phone before the match, and every order is backed by our 100% guarantee: valid tickets in time for kick-off or your money back. Check seat locations first on the Stadium Australia seating plan, Optus Stadium seating map and Suncorp Stadium seating map.

Browse Rugby World Cup 2027 Tickets →Is ticket resale legal in Australia?
Yes, with a price cap. Every host state has a ticket-scalping law, and in each of them the rule for a fan reselling a ticket is the same in substance: you may resell, but not for more than 10% above the original price, and any advertisement must show the original price and the seat location. The Rugby World Cup 2027 ticket terms (updated 6 February 2026) add their own layer: tickets may only be resold through the official resale platform, and the organiser reserves the right to cancel tickets resold outside it or in breach of state law. State by state, as of 30 September 2026:
- New South Wales (Sydney, Newcastle): the Fair Trading Act 1987 caps resale of any ticket to an event in NSW at the original price plus transaction costs of up to 10%, and the ad must state the original price and seat details. Fines up to $22,000 for individuals and $110,000 for companies.
- Victoria (Melbourne): "Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 (Melbourne Matches)" is a declared major event under the Major Events Act 2009, so reselling or advertising a ticket above face value plus 10% is an offence.
- Queensland (Brisbane, Townsville): under the Major Events Act 2014, tickets to events at Stadiums Queensland venues, which include Suncorp Stadium and Queensland Country Bank Stadium, cannot be resold for more than 10% above the original price (fines up to $23,315 for individuals and $117,436 for corporations).
- Western Australia (Perth): the Ticket Scalping Act 2021 applies to any WA event whose tickets carry a resale restriction, which RWC 2027 tickets do; the cap is the original price plus 10% (section 7), with $20,000 fines. The ticket terms also cite WA's Major Events Act 2023.
- South Australia (Adelaide): the ticket terms cite the Major Events Act 2013 (SA), which lets the state declare events and restrict resale. Check the current SA declaration before listing Adelaide Oval tickets.
What this means in practice: if you are an Australian fan with a spare ticket, list it on the official platform at face value plus up to 10%. If you are a buyer, tickets sold through GoalTickets come with our guarantee, but you should know that the organiser's terms treat resale outside the official platform as unauthorised, and that our guarantee, not the organiser, is what protects your purchase. This is general information, not legal advice; the state laws are summarised from the NSW, Victorian, Queensland and WA government sources listed at the end of this page and can change before the tournament.
