About Simonne Mathieu

The court honors Simonne Mathieu (1908-1980), one of France's greatest tennis champions. She won the French Championships singles titles in 1938 and 1939, along with numerous doubles titles. A member of the French Resistance during World War II, Mathieu later captained France's Fed Cup team. Her legacy represents both sporting excellence and courage.
